Santa Monica, CA -- Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen was endorsed today by Ari Ruiz, President of the Stonewall Young Democrats, in his campaign for the 26th State Senate District.
“I am proud to support Ben Allen for the State Senate. Ben is the local community leader with the greatest depth and breadth of knowledge in areas of importance to voters in this district – marriage equality, the environment, education, and will be an exceptional addition to the State Senate,” said Ari Ruiz.
“Ari Ruiz has been a true champion in the battle for LGBT Civil Rights and he has been a true civic activist as well. I am really honored to have his endorsement,” said Ben Allen.
Ari Ruiz currently serves as President of the Stonewall Young Democrats. He has previously served on the Executive Committee of the California Democratic Party’s LGBT Caucus. A civic activist, Ruiz has also served on the City of Los Angeles Commission for Youth, Children, and their Families and is the recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Youth Leader Award which is awarded by Christopher Street West/LA Pride.
In addition to Ruiz’s endorsement, Allen has been endorsed by several prominent Democratic Party leaders and organizations including California Democratic Party Environmental Caucus Chair R.L. Miller, former California Democratic Party Chairman Peter Kelly, California Democratic Party Executive Board Member Susie Shannon, the West Hollywood-Beverly Hills Democratic Club, the Stonewall Democratic Club, the Miracle Mile Democratic Club, the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club, the Santa Monica Democratic Club, Democrats For Israel, the Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains, and the Los Angeles County Young Democrats.

The 26th State Senate District consists of the cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, El Segundo, Avalon, Lomita, Torrance, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills; the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Westchester, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Westwood, Westwood Village, Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Little Holmby, Sunset Hills, Beverly Grove, Mar Vista, Mid City West, Miracle Mile, Larchmont Village, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, Fairfax, Carthay, Fremont Place, Hancock Park, and Windsor Square; and the unincorporated Los Angeles County communities of Marina Del Rey, San Clemente Island, Santa Catalina Island, Franklin, Centinela, and Ocean View.
