Voters Elect Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen to California State Senate

Santa Monica, CA -- With the support of thousands of voters and endorsements from hundreds of elected officials, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen was elected Tuesday, November 4th, to represent District 26 in the California State Senate.

According to the Los Angeles County Registrar, Allen edged out social justice attorney Sandra Fluke, a West Hollywood resident, by a final count of 92,391 votes to Fluke's 59,627. Allen and Fluke came in first and second place, respectively, out of a pool of eight candidates in the June primary election. Both are Democrats.

Major Media Publications Endorse Ben Allen for State Senate

Santa Monica, CA -- In his bid to represent California’s 26th Senate District, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsements of some of the most popular newspapers in the District, including Daily Breeze, Los Angeles Daily News, Los Angeles Register, Beverly Hills Courier, Beverly Hills Weekly, Brentwood News, Century City News, Santa Monica Mirror, and Santa Monica Observer.

Having endorsed Allen in the primary, Daily Breeze reaffirmed its endorsement for the General Election, "[Ben Allen] has the political roots and knowledge of the region and its issues to be a strong representative for a District that stretches from Hollywood to the Palos Verdes Peninsula and includes most of the coastal South Bay."

Majority of Lomita City Council Endorses Ben Allen for Senate

Santa Monica, CA -- In his bid to represent California's 26th State Senate District, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has been endorsed by the majority of the Lomita City Council, including Mayor Michael G. Savidan and City Councilmembers James Gazeley, Ben Traina, and Mark Waronek.
 
Mayor Michael G. Savidan wholeheartedly gave his endorsement stating, “As a lifelong resident of Lomita and as a former Commander within the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, I feel that Ben’s extensive public service and upbringing within our District are what set him apart.  We have already seen vast improvements throughout our District, as Ben has been unwavering in using his knowledge of the ins and outs of legislation to create and implement fiscally responsible measures within education reform and environmental conservation.  I share his vision of continuing to protect and improve our quality of life, and know he will continue to be a driving force that leaves no stone unturned as our next State Senator.”

Ben Allen Receives Endorsements of Majority of Mayors in Senate District 26

Santa Monica, CA -- In his bid to represent California’s 26th Senate District, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned enthusiastic endorsements from the majority of the City Mayors within Senate District 26. 

Allen's Mayoral endorsement block consists of 12 out the 15 Mayors in Senate District 26. These Mayors include the following: Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse, Santa Monica Mayor Pam O'Connor, Manhattan Beach Mayor Wayne Powell, Hermosa Beach Mayor Peter Tucker, Redondo Beach Mayor Steve Aspel, Torrance Mayor Pat Furey, Lomita Mayor Michael G.
