Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor Jerry Duhovic Endorses Ben Allen for State Senate

Santa Monica, CA – Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsement of Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor Jerry Duhovic, for Allen's bid to represent California's 26th Senate District, which includes the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Mayor Jerry Duhovic announced his endorsement, "Ben Allen has proven he is genuinely interested in giving back to the community and sets the bar high for other public servants. Raised in Rancho Palos Verdes and a fellow native of the Los Angeles area, I feel he has our best interests at heart and know he will continue to be responsive to the needs of the District. I support his fiscally responsible positions in addressing educational reform, environmental protection, and creation of quality jobs. He has exactly the integrity and determination we need to get the job done as our next State Senator."

“It is an honor to have the endorsement of the Mayor of the Rancho Palos Verdes for my campaign for State Senate.  As someone who grew up in the District, I am truly humbled by all the support from local leaders, who know that I will have the best interests of our community at heart when I represent them in the Senate.  As the next State Senator, I will never forget to advocate for what is best of our District," Ben Allen commented.

Mayor Duhovic was raised in Rancho Palos Verdes and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy.  Impressed by his parents’ dedication to public service and the Academy’s motto “Serve Before Self," Duhovic ran for Rancho Palos Verdes City Council in order to give back to his community, eventually winning the seat of Mayor.  Prior to his tenure on the City Council, Duhovic was the Vice Chair of Rancho Palos Verdes' Finance Advisory Committee, where he used his two decades of business experience to help protect the City's revenues.

With his endorsement, Duhovic joins a long list of well-respected local elected officials who are backing Allen for State Senate, the only candidate who grew up in the District and who has represented Californians as a public servant at the state and local levels.  He has earned the endorsements of some of the region's most popular and respected leaders, including State Senators Fran Pavley and Jerry Hill; Los Angeles County Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Don Knabe.
