Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Vice President Larry Vanden Bos Endorses Ben Allen

Santa Monica, CA – In his bid for California State Senate District 26, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsement of Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Vice President Larry Vanden Bos.

"As a School Board Member, public education is my top priority, one that Ben also shares.  I am supporting Ben because he knows the importance of investing in our schools and our children, which are the bedrock of District 26 and critical to our future.  I firmly believe that as our next State Senator, he will do everything he can to improve not only our schools, but our entire District," said Vice President Vanden Bos.

“I am deeply honored to receive the support of a fellow school board member, one who understands the importance of providing all of our children access to a quality public education.  I look forward to fighting for our public schools, from preschool to our universities, in the California State Senate,” said Ben Allen.

Larry Vanden Bos was first elected as a Governing Board Member of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District in 2007 and was reelected in 2011.  He served as the board's President in 2008 and currently serves as Vice President.  Previously, Vanden Bos held positions as the Chair of the Planning Commission and as the Parks and Activities Commissioner for the City of Rolling Hills Estates as well as Regional Commissioner of American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 10 in Palos Verdes.  Vanden Bos currently serves as the CEO of Seacat Enterprises and Vice President of Rose & Shore.  His three children all have graduated from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, while Vanden Bos has graduated from Rolling Hills High School, the predecessor.

With his endorsement, Vanden Bos joins a growing number of local elected school board members who are supporting Ben Allen for State Senate, the only candidate who grew up in the District and who has represented Californians as a public servant at the state and local levels.  His endorsers include Los Angeles Unified School District Board Members Steve Zimmer and David Tokofsky; Beverly Hills Unified School District President Noah Margo and Vice President Brian Goldberg; Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District President Maria Leon-Vasquez and Vice President Ralph Mechur and Board Members Oscar De La Torre, Jose Escarce, Laurie Lieberman, and Nimish Patel; and Torrance Unified School District Vice President Don Lee.

Ben Allen placed first among a crowded field in the open primary for the 26th State Senate District, held on June 3, 2014.
