Santa Monica, CA -- In his bid to represent California’s 26th Senate District, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsements of some of the most popular newspapers in the District, including Daily Breeze, Los Angeles Daily News, Los Angeles Register, Beverly Hills Courier, Beverly Hills Weekly, Brentwood News, Century City News, Santa Monica Mirror, and Santa Monica Observer.
Having endorsed Allen in the primary, Daily Breeze reaffirmed its endorsement for the General Election, "[Ben Allen] has the political roots and knowledge of the region and its issues to be a strong representative for a District that stretches from Hollywood to the Palos Verdes Peninsula and includes most of the coastal South Bay."
"It is Ben who has paid his dues locally. Idealistic and confident... Ben Allen is the better candidate for State Senate," stated Beverly Hills Weekly.
Santa Monica Observer added to the praises of Allen, "Ben is a local guy who is exceptionally smart, committed, ethical, and talented... Sandra Fluke is also smart and talented, but she just moved here and seems to be looking far further the political food chain far too quickly to be particularly interested in local representation. We vote for Ben."
Upon receiving the wave of endorsements, Allen exclaimed, "I have grown up reading these newspapers, and I am incredibly honored to receive their statements of confidence. The endorsements reaffirm my local roots and experience and encourage me to go forward with my passion and commitment to this District, where I was born and raised."
With their endorsements, the media publications join a growing list of prominent organizations and leaders in endorsing Ben Allen for State Senate, the only candidate who has represented Californians as a public servant at the state and local levels. Allen has earned the endorsements of some of the region's most recognizable and respected leaders, including U.S. Representatives Henry Waxman and Grace Napolitano; former U.S. Representatives Anthony Beilenson, Howard Berman, Yvonne Burke, and Mel Levine; Los Angeles County Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Don Knabe; former Los Angeles County Supervisor Ed Edelman; State Senators Fran Pavley, Ed Hernandez, and Jerry Hill; and Los Angeles City Councilmembers Paul Koretz, Paul Krekorian, and Tom Labonge.
