Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell Endorses Ben Allen for Senate

Santa Monica, CA—Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsement of District 13 Councilmember Mitch OFarrell in Allen's campaign for California's 26th State Senate District. 

"I endorse Ben Allen for California State Senate because I know he will make policy decisions based on an independent approach to problem solving and carefully evaluate all sides of an issue. The 26th State Senate District covers a large portion of my Council District, specifically Hollywood. Ben offers the type of leadership we all need in Sacramento," said Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell.

First elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2013, O'Farrell succeeded current Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti as the Councilmember representing City Council District 13.O'Farrell began his public service in 2002, serving under the leadership of then Councilmember Eric Garcetti as a field deputy, district director, and senior advisor to the former City Council President. Since then, O'Farrell has gone on to hold several key positions within the City Council, serving as Chair of the Arts, Parks, Health, Aging and Los Angeles River committee; Vice-Chair of Personnel and Animal Welfare committee; Committee Member of the Innovation, Technology and General Services committee, the Public Safety committee, the Education and Neighborhoods committee; and as a member of the City's ad hoc committee on Film and Television Production Jobs.  OFarrell is also active within Los Angeles as an environmentalist focused on revitalizing the LA River, and as an advocate for the LGBTQ community.
Allen placed first among a crowded field in the open primary for the 26th State Senate District, held on June 3, 2014.
