Hermosa Beach City Councilmember Nanette Barragan Endorses Ben Allen

Santa Monica, CA -- Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsement of Hermosa Beach City Councilmember Nanette Barragan, in his bid to represent California's 26th State Senate District.

"Ben Allen is my choice for the 26th State Senate District, and I know that he will be a strong voice for us in Hermosa Beach. Ben Allen will be a leader committed to protecting our environment, ensuring all Californians have access to higher education, improving our infrastructure, and promoting economic development and job growth. I am proud to endorse Ben Allen for State Senate," said Councilmember Nanette Barragan.

"Nanette Barragan represents a new generation of young civic leaders committed to improving our collective quality of life. She is not only a leader in Hermosa Beach but a respected leader in the South Bay. I am both honored and proud to have her endorsement," said Ben Allen.

Nanette Barragan was elected to the Hermosa Beach City Council in November 2013, coming in first place in a crowded field of candidates. Her victory, considered by many observers to be an upset, made her the first Latina to ever serve on the Hermosa Beach City Council and the first woman to serve on the Council in over 10 years. In addition to her service to Hermosa Beach, Barragan has previously worked in the White House, serving under President Bill Clinton.

Her endorsement continues a streak of recent high profile endorsements for Allen including West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman, Congressman Jose Serrano, former Los Angeles County Supervisor Ed Edelman, former Assemblyman Terry Friedman, former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, former State Senator Tom Hayden, and former State Senator Alan Sieroty.
