Santa Monica, CA -- Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board Member Ben Allen has earned the endorsement of the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club in his bid for California’s 26th State Senate District.
The endorsement followed a debate between State Senate candidates Allen, former Assemblywoman Betsy Butler, Social Justice Attorney Sandra Fluke, California State Surgeon Vito Imbasciani, and Screen Writers Guild Leader Patrick Verrone.
“Ben Allen’s vision for California and the 26th State Senate District, his knowledge of facts and issues, his experience, and his true passion for education, environmental, and economic issues made him an easy choice for the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club,” said Susan Haskell, a member of the club’s Board of Directors.
“The Pacific Palisades Democratic Club is one of the most influential organizations in the 26th State Senate District. They do not take their endorsement decisions lightly,” said Allen, “and I’m humbled to receive their support.”
The Pacific Palisades Democratic Club is one of oldest and most respected Democratic Clubs in California. Originally founded in the 1950’s, the club currently boasts over 500 members and hosts regular debates between candidates in contested elections.
The endorsement of the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club also follows on the heels of other Democratic Club endorsements for Allen including the Miracle Mile Democratic Club, the Los Angeles County Young Democrats, the Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains, the Los Angeles Chapter of Democrats for Israel, and the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills Democratic Club.
The 26th State Senate District consists of the cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, El Segundo, Avalon, Lomita, Torrance, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills; the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Westchester, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Westwood, Westwood Village, Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Little Holmby, Sunset Hills, Beverly Grove, Mar Vista, Mid City West, Miracle Mile, Larchmont Village, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, Fairfax, Carthay, Fremont Place, Hancock Park, and Windsor Square; and the unincorporated Los Angeles County communities of Marina Del Rey, San Clemente Island, Santa Catalina Island, Franklin, Centinela, and Ocean View.
